In an effort to continually improve Deploy the Fleet, today I’m announcing the release of deploythefleet.com. This is a completely new version of the service written from the ground up.

The original service, hosted at deploythefleet.io, will continue to work but is now officially deprecated. It will be shut down on July 31, 2026 which should give you ample time to migrate your project and devices to the new service.

What’s new?

Deployments

“Firmwares” in the existing service are now Deployments. This is to facilitate a future update where multiple firmwares can be attached to a single deployment. This will be useful for things like file system updates in addition to the core firmware update.

The terminology change also makes more sense when referring to updating your fleet of devices. You now create and activate a deployment which ensures the correct firmware assets are delivered to your devices. The dashboard still shows you, at a glance, what firmware versions are running on your fleet of devices.

Better Insights

The new dashboard has the same insights you are used to in the existing service with the addition of a few more visualizations of the status of your fleet including:

  • How many devices have checked in during the last 24 hours
  • How many updates have been sent in the last 24 hours
  • How many new devices have onboarded in the last 24 hours
  • A view of check-ins over the last week

We’ve also laid the groundwork for some exciting new device-level insights coming later this year.

Billing Management

You now have the ability to self-manage your Deploy the Fleet billing plan. This is available from the Account page in the Management Console. You can change your plan at any time and also see your billing invoice history.

Passwordless/Social Login

Security is a primary concern at Deploy the Fleet. As such we’ve switched to passwordless authentication and social login. This prevents brute force attacks on your account and leaked passwords. Currently we support Google and Github social login or using your email directly. When using your email, you will receive a unique one-time link to complete login.

Want us to support an additional social provider for login? Email support@deploythefleet.com with details. You can also use the chat widget on this page to reach out directly.

More to Come

With the launch of the new service we are poised to add new features to better serve you. If you have feedback on what you would like to see, please email us or use the chat widget on this page.

What do I need to do?

If you have existing products you would like to migrate to the new platform, you can request the migration from within the existing console.

From a firmware perspective, the following steps will migrate your existing devices to the new platform:

  1. Update the version of the Deploy the Fleet library from a 1.x version to a 2.x version.
  2. Build firmware with the updated library
  3. Create a new Firmware in the deprecated deploythfleet.io console with the newly built firmware and mark it as default.

This will cause all existing devices to get an update which will point them to the new service for all future updates.

It is not necessary to create a deployment in the new service at this time. You only need to do so when you are ready to update your devices.

You can find the full migration instructions here.

Will it cost the same?

I’m still fully committed to offering a Free Forever tier to makers and students. There will be no changes there.

In addition to the free tier, we now offer a Small Business plan for $25/month and a Premium plan for $150/month. Get one month free when you choose the yearly billing option.

If you have an existing paid plan your monthly cost will not change for at least the next 24 months and I will personally work with you to address future pricing updates.

What if I have questions or need help?

I want to make this transition as smooth as possible. Reach out to support@deploythefleet.com and I will personally get in touch to answer any questions and assist in helping you migrate to the new service.

Why the domain change?

As you may have heard, at the end of 2024 there was some uncertainty surrounding .io domains.. In an effort to completely prevent issues with the core domains of the service, I decided to move the domain. Regardless of what plays out on the .io domain front, Deploy the Fleet will be unaffected.
